My name is Jamie Coones and I started in the dog waste removal industry back in 2017. I built my orignial Poo Squad location in Manhattan, Kansas starting in March of 2017. We have since serviced over 5,000 commercial and residential properties. I quickly realized that we were on to something and it was time to expand our brand. We started licensing out our Poo Squad brand just to test the waters and figure out what it takes to support another location. After successfully launching 7 additonal locations and figuring out what it takes to support them, I hit the pause button on adding any other locations and started working on a full on franchise agreement.
Why would someone want to franchise such a low overhead, easy to enter business? There are many reasons. When I first started Poo Squad, it tooks me months of planning and a TON of money to figure out all of our systems and operating procedures. Building out our name, logo, branding, website, CRM, data collection, landing pages, ads, marketing strategies, automation, social media and many other things, takes a lot more time and money than you might think. All in all, I spent around 50k my first year trying to figure everything out. After my first year in business, I was around 60 weekly accounts. I spent most of my first year building out the systems and not focusing on getting new accounts. Now that I have everything in place, we can launch a new location at lightning speed.
Our newest location was sitting at almost 200 weekly accounts after their first year. The exact same day they signed paperwork to become a new Poo Squad location, we had a website, landing pages, CRM setup, Google my business page, phone number, social media accounts and everything else they needed to get started. We started running an ad campaign for them and by the end of that day, they already had 3 new customers to go scoop the next day. THEY WERE SCOOPING YARDS AND MAKING MONEY, THE NEXT DAY after they launched.
We know this business inside and out at this point. We have a lot of historical data from all over the country. We have a pretty good idea of what ads are going to work in different parts of the country at certain times during the year. I have spent well over 100k on running ads and figuring out what works and what doesnt. I will say, it does change over time. Things that worked 5 years ago, aren't necessarily all that effective today. The bottom line here is, we will save you a TON of time and money trying to figure out all of these things on your own. I know people who have spent 5k just getting their logo designed.
While there are certainly people that have been in the game a lot longer than I have, there are not many that have the experience of franchising their brand and working with dog waste removal businesses all over the country.
